About Donna

Donna Kawahara has been a resident of St. Albert since 2007. She is a single parent and a full time healthcare professional. She has Cree heritage that she is on a journey to discover more about. Donna is a photographer, an avid reader who loves the local library, and a crafter who enjoys crocheting, sewing, and painting.

Donna has a Bachelor Degree in Dental Sciences (dental hygiene) and a Masters Degree in Health Studies Leadership. She was a post secondary educator at the University of Manitoba, NAIT, and University of Alberta, but currently spends her time providing dental hygiene care for marginalized populations including elderly, and physically and cognitively challenged individuals. She has a small photography business that she operates out of St. Albert. She has taught photography workshops for St. Albert Cultivates the Arts Culture Days for the last two years, and will be hosting another one this upcoming September.

Donna, also known as Dawn by many in the community, volunteers her time as Vice President of the St. Albert Photography Club, a committee member of St. Albert Cultivates the Arts Society, and has volunteered for St. Albert Public Library’s STARFest as a photographer for the events. Previously Donna was a parent volunteer for St. Albert’s Air Cadet 533 Squadron. She supports Outloud St. Albert and PFlag, and regularly attends PFlag meetings.
